How do I get on the WSPC committee?
At your respective school's PTO meetings, the Executive Board advises of any vacancies within WSPC for your school and if you are interested, you can let your Board know and they will reach out to WSPC directly, or your can contact us directly. Alternatively, if you see a vacancy listed on our website under members, for your child's school, then you can reach out to us directly too.
How are the school representatives chosen?
The representatives are chosen solely based on interest and on a first come, first serve basis. If there is a vacancy for your child's school and a parent reaches out to us, or your PTO Executive Board, prior to any one else coming forward, then that person is "chosen".
What exactly does the WSPC do?
We hope that our website has provided most of the details on what we do and our mission and goals, however, our main goal is to "Come together to achieve common goals" for all the seven schools in Wethersfield.
Are there "term limits" for being on the committee?
Currently there are no term limits for being on WSPC, except in the case of your child's leaving one of the schools. That would extinguish your partnership with WSPC, unless for example your child moves from the elementary school to the middle school, and there is a vacancy within WSPC for a middle school representative and you sign-up for it.
When does the committee meet?
Most of the meetings take place on the first Thursday of every month at the Stillman Building (Board of Education) in Old Wethersfield starting at 12:00 p.m. But, due to school vacations there are a few months when it is different. Please click here to see full calendar.
What is the role as a school representative to the WSPC?
The school representative's role is to attend the monthly WSPC meetings and then report back to their respective school's PTO on the main topics and information discussed at the meetings. They may also help plan events and work as the liaison between your child's school and WSPC.
What if I would like to join but I can't make every meeting?
Of course, there are times when things happen in our busy lives that we can't make a meeting, we understand that. If you miss a meeting, reach out to any of the other members, the secretary or the co-chairs to get an update so you are able to relay the valued information back to your school's PTO.
