what is Wethersfield Schools Parent Council - WSPC?

WSPC is an acronym for Wethersfield Schools Parent Council. It started thirty years ago and is still an active participant in the lives of Wethersfield students and parents today. It is a town-wide parent group that works to improve Wethersfield Public Schools through constructive communication. Two Representatives from each school in the district meet monthly to address educational issues and share information from their respective schools, who then report back to their PTO/PTSA's to disseminate the information.

The Goals of the Wethersfield Schools Parent Council are as follows:
  • To unify and strengthen local parent teacher groups by facilitating the exchange of information and to encourage working together to achieve common goals.
  • To develop among parents, educators, town government and the Wethersfield community, a united effort to secure for all children and youth, the greatest opportunities in physical, mental and social education.
  • To coordinate advocacy on appropriate issues that affect the quality of education and well being of children in the town of Wethersfield.
WSPC parent volunteers include two or more representatives from each school who meet regularly for the benefit of all Wethersfield students. It also hosts their annual Volunteer Recognition Awards, honoring community members who have made a commitment to benefit the educational or social experience of the children in the Wethersfield Public school system.
